Difference between 1st, 2nd & 3rd Generation Intel Core i3 i5 & i7 Processors in Pakistan.
What is the difference between Generations of laptops in Pakistan?
- First generation (Nehalem Processors) Intel Core i3, i5 & i7 laptop processors.
1st Generation of Core i3, i5 & i7 processors is called Nehalem Processors. They are less fast then the Second and Third Generations. We also find that this generation is obsolete now. They consume more power because of which the Battery backup is less. 1st Generation processors were introduced in 2010. Nehalem processors are 45nm from that we understand; they’re up to 15% slower than the next generation at the same clock speeds.
- Second Generation (Sandy Bridge) Intel Core i3, i5 & i7 laptop processors.
2nd Generation of Core i3, i5 & i7 processors is called Sandy Bridge Processors. These are up to 15% faster than the previous generation at the same clock speeds. They consume less power and the battery backup is more. 2nd Generation processors were introduced in 2011 .The 2nd gen is 32nm. 2nd generation processors include new features for improving the Graphics performance of the processors such as Intel InTru 3D / Clear Video HD and WiDi 2.0 that were not available in 1st generation processors.
- Third Generation (Ivy Bridge) Intel Core i3, i5 & i7 laptop processors.
3rd Generation of Core i3, i5 & i7 processors is called Ivy Bridge. It was introduced in late 2012 at the moment it is the latest and the fastest Generation, Third gen is about 5%-8% faster than second Generation Sandy Bridge Processors & up to 45% faster then the 1st Gen.
At the same GHz you will get 10% to 15% performance difference when going from the 1st generation Intel® Core™ processors to the 2nd generation Intel Core processors. Now going to the 3rd generation Intel Core processors you will get another 15% faster performance.
